What is Projection mapping?
According to Wikipedia, Projection mapping, also known as video mapping and spatial augmented reality, is a projection technology used to turn objects, often irregularly shaped, into a display surface for video projection.
What does this really mean?
We use multiple projectors to shine the video image onto multiple sides of a shape, creating a true three-dimensional display. For us, as filmmakers, it's a new way to tell a story. We call our projection mapping endeavors IllumiNation.
We have always been interested in the intersection of art and technology; for this project we are using various technical and traditional mediums to create a unique visual experience.
